Our Peru Single Origin coffee from UNICAFEC comes from women farmers in San Ignacio, a cooperative committed not only to producing high-quality coffee, but also to building stronger, more equal communities. Importantly, their work is further supported by the Café Femenino Foundation, which helps drive long-term social impact.
Meet the Collective: UNICAFEC
UNICAFEC is a close-knit cooperative of around 400 producers in northern Peru, and women sit at the heart of it. They grow and manage the coffee, lead much of the cultivation, and are increasingly taking on ownership and decision-making roles within the cooperative.
The structure behind it all guarantees full traceability back to the women who grow it, organic and Fairtrade certification, and extra premiums that go directly toward women’s development. It’s not just a sourcing model, it’s a system built to create opportunity and lasting change at origin.
Why It Matters
Across coffee-growing regions, women contribute enormously to production, yet have historically had little financial recognition or say in decisions. UNICAFEC is changing that, supporting land ownership, financial independence, and investment in education and healthcare for its members.
As Flor Merino, chair of the women’s committee, puts it: “As a woman and a farmer, I have lots of dreams and goals, but the main ones are to improve my family’s quality of life; to continue improving our processing facilities to obtain a high-quality coffee, both in terms of production and in the cup.”

Backed by Café Femenino
UNICAFEC’s work is bolstered by the Café Femenino Foundation, set up in 2004 to tackle the inequality many women in coffee-growing communities face.
The foundation funds projects shaped by the communities themselves, covering education, healthcare, clean water, and income diversification, ensuring the support given is exactly what’s needed, where it’s needed.
In the Cup
Grown at altitudes of up to 1,700 metres, this coffee makes the most of ideal growing conditions. Expect a full-bodied, comforting cup with notes of chocolate and caramel, a bright acidity that lifts the profile, and a natural sweetness that lingers through the finish. Approachable, yet refined.
Built for Versatility
This coffee shines across espresso, filter, and cafetière, and holds its balance beautifully whether you’re drinking it black, with milk, or with an alternative milk of your choice, making it an easy fit for any coffee menu.
Why We’re Showcasing It
Releasing this coffee as a single origin lets us tell its full story, spotlight the producers behind it, and let its true character speak for itself. You’ll spot the UNICAFEC cooperative logo on the packaging too, a deliberate choice, because partnerships like this deserve to be seen, not hidden.
Coffee That Connects
This isn’t just a Peruvian single origin. It connects product to people, origin to impact, and quality to purpose, coffee at its best when it’s sourced with intention.
